Stock-specific action dominated the market on August 5, with investors reacting to another batch of June-quarter earnings even as the benchmark indices traded in a narrow range. Strong earnings and company-specific developments continued to drive sharp moves across mid- and small-cap stocks.
PNB Housing Finance surged 7?ter reporting a 4.3% YoY rise in Q1 profit to ?554.5 crore, while net interest income increased 7.5% YoY to ?788.5 crore, boosting investor sentiment.
Sheela Foam gained 2?ter posting a more than nine-fold jump in Q1 profit to ?61.4 crore, supported by a 25.6% YoY increase in revenue to ?1,031.9 crore.
In contrast, Multi Commodity Exchange of India (MCX) slipped 3?spite reporting a 103.5% YoY jump in profit to ?413.4 crore and an 88.1% rise in revenue to ?702 crore, suggesting profit-booking after recent gains.
Meanwhile, NHPC traded in the green after reporting a 2.9% YoY increase in Q1 profit to ?1,095.9 crore, while revenue grew 18.5% YoY to ?3,808.3 crore.
