LG Electronics India stock jumps 8?ter strong Q1; brokerages bullish on premiumisation, margin gains

LG Electronics India shares extended morning gains to jump nearly 8 percent on August 14, emerging among the top midcap gainers, after strong fiscal first quarter results. Brokerages were bullish on the stock, citing broad-based growth, margin expansion and an improving product mix.

The LG Electronics India stock was trading up 7.8 percent at Rs 1,700 on NSE, taking its year-to-date gain to 14.5 percent. The Nifty 50, in comparison, has declined 6.9 percent so far this year. The company's market capitalisation stood at around Rs 1.15 lakh crore.

The rally followed LG Electronics India's Q1 FY27 results announced on Thursday. The consumer electronics and home appliances maker reported a 27.2 percent year-on-year rise in net profit to Rs 652.8 crore from Rs 513.2 crore. Revenue grew 15.5 percent to Rs 7,233.3 crore from Rs 6,262.9 crore a year earlier, while EBITDA increased 26.2 percent to Rs 904.2 crore from Rs 716.2 crore. EBITDA margin expanded to 12.5 percent from 11.4 percent.

CLSA maintained its 'Outperform' rating on LG Electronics India with a target price of Rs 1,885 per share, implying more than 19 percent upside from Thursday's close. The brokerage said the Q1 beat was driven largely by stronger margins in the home entertainment business and a richer premium-product mix.

Growth was broad-based across appliances, entertainment, price points and exports, according to CLSA. The brokerage also highlighted the company's FY27 guidance for mid-teen revenue growth and an early double-digit EBITDA margin.

Jefferies retained its 'Buy' rating with a target price of Rs 1,815 per share. It said the 27 percent profit growth was ahead of estimates, aided by stronger-than-expected margins. The brokerage attributed the margin improvement to premiumisation, operating leverage, price hikes and cost controls. Localisation and backward integration in compressors provided an additional boost, it said.

Jefferies also highlighted increasing penetration of the LG Essential Series in tier-2 and tier-3 markets, pointing to the company's efforts to widen its presence beyond premium products and larger urban markets.

LG Electronics India manufactures and markets consumer electronics, home appliances and IT products in India.
