Hero MotoCorp share price falls 7%, biggest drop in a year after August sales data

Hero MotoCorp share price slipped nearly 7 percent intraday on September 2, a biggest fall in a year,  following the company  reported mixed set of sales data for the month of August.

At 12:21 hrs Hero Motocorp was quoting at Rs 5,214, down Rs 331.00, or 5.97 percent on the BSE. It has touched an intraday high of Rs 5,481.25 and an intraday low of Rs 5,169.00.

The company's total sales jumped 2.65% at 5.68 lakh units in August, compared with 5.54 lakh units in the year-ago period.

However, Motorcycle sales declined 1.53% to 4.94 lakh units from 5.02 lakh units a year earlier and export sales dropped 24.6% to 26,093 units from 34,588 units in August last year.

The Nifty Auto index also slipped more than 3 percent amid rising crude oil prices post US and Iran exchanged strikes overnight.

Higher crude prices tend to be a negative for auto companies as they can raise input and transportation costs, fuel inflation and potentially weigh on vehicle demand.

Recently, the company acquired an additional 1.18 crore equity shares, representing 3.01 percent of paid-up equity, in Ather Energy from the Government of Singapore for Rs 1,758.24 crore.

The two-wheeler maker reported a 16.86% year-on-year decline in consolidated profit after tax to Rs 1,417.93 crore for the quarter ended June 30, compared with Rs 1,705.65 crore in the year-ago period. Revenue from operations rose 35% to Rs 13,126.35 crore.

The share price declined more than 17 percent in the last 9 months.

The share touched a 52-week high of Rs 6,390.00 and a 52-week low of Rs 4,671.55 on 05 December, 2025 and 30 June, 2026, respectively. Currently, the stock is trading 18.4 percent below its 52-week high and 11.61 percent above its 52-week low. The market capitalisation of the company stands at Rs 104,353.63 crore
