The new year will see grocery essentials, personal care products, packaged food and dining out get more expensive as freight, packaging and agri-commodities become costlier.
"We expect prices across dairy products to increase this summer," said RS Sodhi, MD of Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation Ltd. (GCMMF), which owns Amul, India's largest dairy brand. "Globally, inflation in the dairy sector is at about a steep 10%."
Suresh Narayanan, managing director of packaged foods maker Nestle India, said next year is going to be difficult owing to higher commodity prices. He expects a further rise in food prices.
