NEW DELHI: Sugar shares closed lower in the Tuesday's session. Ponni Sugars(Erode)(up 6.46%), MAGADHSUGAR(up 5.09%), Rajshree Sugars & Chemicals(up 4.93%), Sakthi Sugars(up 3.72%), Balrampur Chini Mills(up 2.69%), EID Parry(up 2.41%), Shree Renuka Sugars(up 2.10%), Ugar Sugar Works(up 1.87%), Uttam Sugar Mills(up 0.69%) and DCM Shriram Industries(up 0.19%) stood among the top gainers.

Vishwaraj Sugar Industries(down 1.70%), Dharani Sugars & Chemicals(down 1.63%), Mawana Sugars(down 1.59%),

NSE -0.88 % & Industries(down 0.88%), Dwarikesh Sugar Industries(down 0.65%), Dhampur Sugar Mills(down 0.64%), Bannari Amman Sugars(down 0.49%), Dalmia Bharat Sugar & Industries(down 0.25%), Rana Sugars(down 0.18%) and AVADHSUGAR(down 0.14%) were among the top losers of the day.

The NSE Nifty50 index ended 42.3 points down at 15732.1, while the 30-share BSE Sensex closed down 153.13 points at 52693.57.

NTPC(up 1.68%), Bharti Airtel(up 1.6%), Apollo Hospitals Enterprises(up 1.49%), Mahindra & Mahindra(up 1.49%), Divis Laboratories(up 1.48%), Adani Ports & Special Economic Zone(up 1.36%), UltraTech Cement(up 1.35%), Grasim Industries(up 1.3%), Infosys(up 1.13%) and Cipla(up 1.04%) stood among the top gainers in the Nifty pack.

On the other hand, Bajaj Auto(down 5.14%), IndusInd Bank(down 2.46%), Oil & Natural Gas Corporation(down 2.26%), Hindalco Industries(down 2.22%), Tech Mahindra(down 2.07%), HDFC LIFE INSURANCE(down 1.65%), Hero MotoCorp(down 1.59%), UPL Ltd(down 1.47%), Reliance Industries(down 1.31%) and Hindustan Unilever(down 1.18%) closed in the red.
