Covid-19 4th Wave in India Live updates: According to the official data shared by the Ministry of Health on Friday morning, India recorded 2,841 new Covid-19 infections and nine deaths in last 24 hours. The country’s active caseload currently stands at 18,604. A decrease of 463 cases has been recorded in the active caseload. Overall 18,604 Covid active cases have been recorded, which is 0.04% of the total caseload. As per the official data, the number of deaths has reached 5,24,190. The daily positivity rate has declined to 0.58% and the weekly positivity rate dipped to 0.69%, according to the Ministry.

The Ministry of Health on Thursday announced that Indian citizens & students travelling overseas can now take the precaution dose of the vaccine against Covid-19 as required by the guidelines of the destination country. This new facility will be available soon on the CoWIN portal, Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya said in a tweet.

Thane district of Maharashtra reported 25 new coronavirus positive cases, which took its infection tally to 7,09,293, an official said on Friday. These cases were reported on Thursday. As the virus did not claim anybody's life during the day, the death toll in Thane remained constant at 11,894, he said, adding that the district's COVID-19 mortality rate is 1.67 per cent. In neighbouring Palghar district, the caseload stood at 1,63,612, while the death toll is 3,407, another official said.

Shanghai is aiming to reach zero-COVID at the community level in the next few days and will then start to steadily ease traffic restrictions and open shops, the city's deputy mayor Wu Qing said on Friday. Though the situation is improving, the fight against China's biggest-ever COVID-19 outbreak “still requires the joint exertions of every citizen”, Wu told a briefing. “Our current goal is to achieve social zero in the middle of this month,” Wu said. “We've already seen that the light is getting closer and closer.” When Chinese officials refer to cases “at the community level” they mean outside tightly regulated quarantine zones. Cases outside the quarantine zones are most closely watched for an indication of if the outbreak is spreading or not.

North Korea said Friday that six people died and 3.5 lakh have been treated for a fever that has spread “explosively” across the nation, a day after its first acknowledgement of a COVID-19 outbreak. The true scale is unclear, but a big COVID-19 outbreak could be devastating in a country with a broken healthcare system and an unvaccinated, malnourished population. North Korea, which likely does not have sufficient COVID-19 tests and other medical equipment, said it did not know the case of the mass fevers. The North's official Korean Central News Agency said of the 3.5 lakh people who developed fevers since late April, 1,62,200 have recovered. It said 18,000 people were newly found with fever symptoms on Thursday alone, and 1,87,800 people are being isolated for treatment.
