Budget FY23: Can Nirmala Sitharaman find enough resources while providing more for capital expenditure?

Finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman faces the difficult challenge of strengthening the economy but with limited options at hand, given the macroeconomic situation.

The looming threat of inflation and a widening current account deficit require fiscal consolidation, while potentially spiking crude and commodity prices could necessitate cuts in fuel taxes and higher allocations to subsidies.
