Tata Nexon EV Max Launch LIVE Updates: Tata Motors is set to launch a new avatar of the Nexon called Nexon EV Max. This new vehicle will boast of a better range compared to the existing model and potentially support faster charging. It is expected that the Nexon EV Max will be able to cover 400km on a single charge as opposed to the 312km range of the current model. This is a huge uplift in the claimed range figure and will encourage more buyers to go electric. We expect the Nexon EV Max to co-exist with the existing model. Prices for the longer-range avatar would be higher as it could potentially have a 40kWh battery pack. Along with this, the vehicle might be treated to subtle design tweaks and feature additions.
The increase in operating range will be achieved by a bigger battery. The Nexon EV currently comes with a 30.2kWh battery but the Nexon EV Max could have a 40kWh battery. It will still be backed by Tata’s Ziptron technology but we expect to see a small bump in the power and torque figures.
Another change on the inside is the removal of the conventional handbrake. It has now been replaced by an electronic parking brake. Not only has this changed the interior layout, it also changes how one operates the vehicle. The e-parking brake will also come with an Auto Hold function.
The interior of the Nexon EV Max is set to receive some changes and one of them is the addition of a wireless charging pad for smartphones. The space was earlier occupied by a simple cubby space to store small items but now will house a wireless charging pad. This will be great news for anyone who has a phone that supports the technology
Another cosmetic, as well as functional change, comes in the form of a new drive selector. You still get a rotary dial to change the modes but now the simple knob has been replaced by a fancy unit with a shiny chrome finish around the edge and a display in the middle that shows you the different modes and the one you currently are using.
In an Instagram post shared by the company, it was claimed that the new Nexon EV Max could complete a trip from Mumbai to Pune and back in a single charge. A quick Google search shows that that is roughly a 300km long journey. The current Nexon EV has a claimed range of 312km and we are expecting the Nexon EV Max to have a claimed range of about 400km.
